Description
Cognidesk is an experimental knowledge organization platform built to explore Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, and microservice-based AI systems. The goal of the project is to help users organize and retrieve knowledge efficiently without spending time searching through scattered resources.
The Experiment
I often explore topics deeply and collect ideas across many tools such as Notepad, Workflowy, Notion, Obsidian, and GitHub. Over time this created fragmented knowledge across platforms, making it difficult to revisit or reconstruct previous research. Cognidesk was built to experiment with a unified knowledge system using RAG and vector search to organize and retrieve ideas more intelligently.
Core Insights
Through this project I learned the importance of proper logging in distributed systems and how LLMs connect to external data sources using retrieval pipelines. I explored how embeddings, vector databases, and RAG workflows enable AI systems to retrieve context-specific information from knowledge sources.
Tech Stack
Deployment Status
The project is not deployed because the architecture follows a microservice approach and I am still learning how to properly deploy and orchestrate distributed services.
